Concern over Abuse at Work

The Community & District Nursing Association has expressed concern at the fugures released by the BMA, which reveal that one in three doctors are victims of abuse at work.

The CDNA has long campaigned for increased safety at work for its members, and the latest figures emphasises the risk faced by health workers. The CDNA backed the NHS Security Awareness Month in November which urges NHS staff not to see .

Work your proper hours

Too often long hours are taken for granted. That's why the TUC says you should take a stand today. Why 23 Feb? Because if you did all your unpaid work at the start of the year, on average it would be the first day you would get paid. So today, arrive at work on time, take a proper lunch break and leave when you are meant to. It is also a day for your boss to thank you for your extra effort, and perhaps even buy you an after work drink.

Chronic care in the community instead of hospital is not a "no cost" option

Commenting on the governments plans to reduce the number of A&E admissions by treating patients with chronic illnesses in the community, Anne Duffy, Director of the Community and District Nursing Association (CDNA), said:

“Our members will welcome this announcement, having always supported better management of chronic disease. It places community based care even more at the heart of future healthcare provision. However the government must ensure that adequate funding in place to increase workforce capacity to meet this new demand on community nurses.
