Scottish Executive ReportThe CDNA is currently conducting a series of sessions for its members across the regions in the UK as many Strategic Health Authorities are currently consulting on key changes to the district nurse posts. It is vital that you participate in this discussion as the decisions made will have a huge impact on your future role. Scotland In December 06 we held a successful meeting in Edinburgh with CDNA members regarding workforce issues in your area. Recently the Scottish Executive issued a report which has far reaching implications for members. I would strongly suggest that members look at the Scottish Executive website where they can read and download the report in full. The report is entitled "Report of the Review of Nursing in the Community" and can be found at the following link or in the enclosed document. http://www.scotland.gov.uk/Home NHS Lothian has been chosen as a pilot site and Robert Anderson our executive member in the Lothian are will be sitting on their steering group with the first meeting being held on the 23rd January. I would be grateful if members could forward their views to him prior to this date. The pilot sites have been tasked with introducing firm working proposals by the end of 2007 with both the new Community Health Nurses and the strategy up and running during 2008/09. It would be helpful if members throughout Scotland could find out if their health board has been chosen as a pilot sight and seek to get representation on their steering groups. This is a serious issue in your area and will impact heavily on your current role so please take the time to look at the consultation. Your comments can be sent to Robert Anderson via his email on hn0gunn@hotmail.com. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any further queries.
