Hairmyres Hospital

The general standard of cleanliness at East Kilbride's Hairmyres hospital was satisfactory, according to a report published today by the Healthcare Environment Inspectorate.

The report also highlights that patients had made positive comments about the hospital's cleanliness.

However, inspectors did call for a number of improvements at the hospital, including ensuring all staff are fully aware of hospital policy regarding infection control precautions.

Other recommendations include:

Ensuring staff toilets are not used as staff changing rooms

Better cleaning of patient equipment

Increasing awareness of Legionella control legislation
