CDNA WELCOMES NHS HEALTH SCREENING ANNOUNCEMENTS

Anne Duffy, Chief Executive of The Community and District Nursing Association, has welcomed the Prime Minister’s announcement of health screening on the NHS.  Patients in England are to be offered screening for early signs of various illnesses, including heart and kidney disease and stroke.

CDNA WELCOMES PRIME MINISTER’S LETTER TO NHS STAFF

Anne Duffy, Chief Executive of The Community and District Nursing Association, has welcomed the letter from the Prime Minister, Gordon Brown, to all NHS staff sent on 1st January 2008. 2008 marks the 60th anniversary of the National Health Service and the CDNA is pleased that the Prime Minister and the government are marking the New Year with deserved recognition for all the staff in the NHS.

CDNA TO SPONSOR NURSES IN ETHIOPIA

The Community and District Nursing Association has today announced that it is working in partnership with ‘Children in Crossfire’ to sponsor the training of nurses in Ethiopia. The Community and District Nursing Association will provide the opportunity for thirteen Ethiopian women to train as nurses, to graduate level, over the next three years. CDNA Chief Executive, Anne Duffy, is travelling to Ethiopia in the next few weeks to meet the class of January 2008. Anne Duffy said, “I am absolutely delighted that CDNA members in the UK have an opportunity to develop links with future Ethiopian nurses. I look forward to the exchange of knowledge, skills and friendship.”

CDNA Joins TUC To Call For Improved Pay Settlement for 2008

In a report out on 18th December 2008, the TUC has told the Government that its centralised pay target of two per cent for the next three years will do nothing to fight inflation and risks fatally damaging the industrial relations machinery that has helped to minimise disputes across much of the public sector.

CDNA Welcomes Announcement on Fuel Allowances

The Community and District Nursing Association has welcomed the announcement by NHS Employers on fuel allowances for NHS staff in England.

The CDNA has been campaigning for an increase in allowances to offset the increasing price of fuel and the inreasing cost to our members who use their cars for work.

From 1st January 2008 the Regular Car User allowance will rise by 10%
